Bacteria in your Gut may be the cause of your obesity.
New research is reporting a strong link between what is in our Gut and obesity. In these videos we will review the latest information.
First let’s start with mean of the words we will be using in this article.
The Gut is our intestinal track. Belly is our stomach
Probiotics are ingested microorganisms present in our Gut.
Prebiotics are non-digestible fiber that passes through the upper part of our Gut. Prebiotics stimulate the growth of advantageous bacteria in the Gut.
Inulin is a dietary fiber often extracted from chicory.
Inulin is found in wheat, onion, bananas, garlic, asparagus and chicory.
Inulin enhances the growth and activities of selected beneficial bacteria or inhibits growth or activities of certain pathogenic bacteria, hence promoting colonic health.
Butyrate is a major metabolite in colonic lumen arising from bacterial fermentation of dietary fiber and has been shown to be a critical mediator of the colonic inflammatory response.
Butyrate might stimulate growth of Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli bacteria by reducing apoptosis. Apoptosis is the process of programmed cell death. Research now links it to a variety of diseases.
Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli, which are health beneficial bacteria.
Fermentation is a metabolic process that converts sugar to acids, gases and/or alcohol. Fermatation is the bulk growth of microorganisms and this is why you need to add them to your diet.
In this series of articles we are going to review the latest findings on how the absence of the right bacteria in our Gut is making us obese and how we can get more of the right bacteria into our Gut.
