The food pyramid we have been following for the past 60 years should be turned upside down. Rather than having Rice, Potatoes and alternatives carbohydrates we should be eating more Fats, Oils, Meats and vegetables.

You may be thinking that this makes no sense at all.

If the current food pyramid was working we would not be suffering the obesity and diabetes pandemic that our society is enduring.
Did you know that the urine of diabetes is actually sweet, give that some thought.

Carbohydrates are what we had been told to consume most in our diet is proving to be the major cause of obesity and diabetes.

When you consume a high glycemic index carbohydrate your body turns the food into glucose then insulin transports the glucose to the liver where it’s most likely turned into a fatty acid, triglycerides, to be housed in the fat stores, which have unlimited storage capacity. Consequently, body fat is added with a fair chance for more. The second secretion of insulin usually lowers blood sugar to such a degree that it creates hypoglycemia and a false hunger that causes more eating.
The highs and low of our sugar is the reason we are always hungry after eating a high glycemic carboydrates.

The documentary shows that:
* 1 in 5 of every dollar spend on health costs goes to treat diabetes
* Portion sizes are larger than ever
* Inflammation is a direct result of to much carbohydrate consumption
* Since we were told to eat less fats, obesity rates have sky rocketed
* The food guideline themselves have ‘NEVER’ been examined by the government.
* In the seventies the food industry introduced High Fructose Corn Syrup made from corn
* Today 80% of the food in our supermarkets contain HFCS’s
* Food industry marketing – had come at us night and day – in every form since we were kids
* The generation that grew up on T.V. and now the digital generation have been spoon feed the subconscious message that sugar and white processed are good for
* We were told that trans fat like margarine and processed foods reduced cholesterol, the obesity pandemic has proved that wrong.
* They told us to give up natural Butter, Meat, Eggs and Lard replace them with artificial sweeteners and high trans fat artificial oils.

What did we take away from the documentary Carb-Loaded- A Culture Dying to Eat is simply this , those of us suffering from obesity and diabetes must stop believing what we had been told about foods and the food industry/

The definition of Insanity is “Doing the same over and over and expecting different results”.

If you are concerned about your weight or overall health, rather than avoiding fat in your diet, try replacing trans fats and saturated fats from fried or processed foods with good fats, such as fish, olive oil, nuts, avocados, and high-quality cheeses.
