It is a little-known fact 50% of women will suffer heart issues during the course of their lives. You may not know it but more women die in America than men.
Current research is showing that cardiovascular disease is a greater health issue for women than for men.
More woman died from heart disease currently, by a greater margin than men. While heart-related deaths of men have been going down over the last 30 years the rate for woman has been steadily going up, up and up.
You may not be aware of this grim fact, more women die from heart attacks than die from breast cancer at all ages. Why aren’t we more aware of this discrepancy? The simple answer is that we think of heart disease if something older woman suffered, not a young woman in the prime of her life. Unlike cancer heart attacks give no warning and happening very quickly and no long goodbyes.
Extensive research and progress had been made on treating men heart issues and driven down deaths of men while the rate for women is going up.
The major problem is that the medical community looks at cardiovascular disease as a man’s disease and don’t consider the fact that it has become the leading cause of death for women. Women complaining of chest pain are being misdiagnosed and not treated for heart disease in its early stages.
The risk of heart disease in women is often underestimated due to the misperception that females are ‘protected’ against cardiovascular disease. The under-recognition of heart disease and differences in clinical presentation in women lead to less aggressive treatment strategies and a lower representation of women in clinical trials.
Women heart issues desire the same public awareness as that of breast cancer.
Women must have self-awareness and pay their cardiovascular risk factors needs more attention, which should result in a better prevention of cardiovascular events.
